Using archive plans of underground toilets in Dunedin from 1910, I have developed (in conjunction with Otago Polytechnic) a virtual reality tour of these long gone underground spaces. As this has been so successful, our department plan to further develop this into an AR experience for the public, which can promote heritage to tourists and locals alike. We also plan to further extend this by including the whole of the Octagon and making the experience a time travel journey back to 1910, using the archives to promote Dunedin's unique built heritage and history.
